Marauders extend their winning streak to seven
Christian Kelley doubled and singled twice, and Pedro Vasquez allowed just five hits over six innings as the Bradenton Marauders topped the Daytona Tortugas 7-3 on Monday for their seventh straight Florida State League victory.
Vasquez (4-2) allowed two runs while striking out seven and walking one to get the win.
Daytona cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth after Shed Long hit an RBI single, bringing home Blake Butler.
Bradenton answered in the next half-inning, scoring three runs to extend its lead. Cole Tucker drove in two runs and Mitchell Tolman drove in one en route to the four-run lead.
The Marauders tacked on another run in the ninth when Jordan George hit an RBI single, scoring Tolman.
Vladimir Gutierrez (3-3) went five innings, allowing three runs and five hits in the Florida State League game. He also struck out seven and walked one.
Long homered and singled, driving home two runs for the Tortg homered and singled, driving home two runs for the Tortugas.
It’s the first time in franchise history that the Marauders won a series opener in Daytona.
