The scoop: Manatee is in sole possession of first place in Class 8A-District 6 and has three district games left to finish its second undefeated season in district play. The Hurricanes have outscored district opponents by an average of 44 points (52-8) and seem to be connecting on all cylinders offensively. Josh Booker and Keyon Fordham share the offensive load at running back, not to mention A.J. Colagiovanni and Tarique Milton, the area’s most productive quarterback-receiver tandem. This is one of the area’s oldest rivalries. The Rams split two close district games, beating Steinbrenner 20-19 and losing to 35-30 to Palm Harbor. Manatee won this game 56-14 last year, so the Rams’ defense will have to show significant improvement and the offense can’t turn the ball over. Their strength is their offensive line.
Prediction: Manatee 42, Riverview 17
