Stiles to move ahead with Omni area Publix
Stiles announced Monday that it is moving forward on construction of Publix at 18Biscayne, the first urban strip shopping center in the Omni area of Miami.
The center, on Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast 17th Terrace and 18th Street, is expected to break ground in late first quarter of 2011 with completion in early 2012.
The Publix store will be 49,200 square feet with a bakery, pharmacy and cafe with outdoor seating. The project, which will have one floor of retail and two levels of parking above, will also include another 8,000 square feet of retail shops fronting Biscayne Boulevard. Plans call for a Publix liquor store, a national bank and another retailer to be determined.
The Fort Lauderdale-based Stiles will own the project, which is being financed by Wells Fargo. The redevelopment of the vacant site is expected to play a key role in the continued revitalization of Biscayne Boulevard.
