Dave Miner’s history as child advocate telling
For the second time in my life I am writing a Letter to the Editor regarding a candidate for school board.
Manatee County Children’s Services was founded by Carol Chamberlain to combat child abuse and neglect. When I was mayor of Palmetto, I served on its Board of Directors and Dave Miner was our president.
Under Dave Miner’s leadership, the MCS board did great things for the children of our community, most notably bringing the first Child Abuse Prevention Program to the county and obtaining the first Manatee County government grant for addressing the scourge of child abuse. These were unprecedented steps forward for serving tragic needs in our community, and Dave’s leadership was instrumental in making them happen.
As voters, I trust we all consider how much over the years our candidates for school board have shown their concern for children. We all benefit when we have school board members as Dave Miner to continue to be the “Watchdog” for the good of our children.
