Vote down Manatee County, school district sales tax issues
When I read the article in the Aug. 1 Bradenton Herald entitled “Forward Manatee political committee formed to advocate for sales tax passage,” the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Does “Forward” in the name ring any bells to you? President Obama used that for his slogan in 2012.
Back in an April 30, 2012 issue of the Washington Post, Victor Morton wrote a piece on the word “forward.” The article was “New Obama slogan has long ties to Marxism, Socialism.” In this article, Morton refers to Wikipedia’s entire section called “Forward (generic name of socialistic publications)”:
1. The name “forward” carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications.
2. The slogan “forward” reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move past capitalism into socialism and communism.
I could go on, but you get the drift. This political committee is being formed to convince the public that the half percent increase in the sales tax for the county commission and the renewal of the half percent sales tax for the school board is the way to go. It is for “infrastructure and a new school.”
This “Forward Manatee” political action group will try to indoctrinate you to think that these two sales taxes are the right thing to do. I don’t think they are. Vote “no!” in November to an increase in taxes.
