Law enforcement officer’s generosity much appreciated

I stopped at Subway (a sandwich shop) one recent morning and was in line with a police officer and two other people. As we got closer to the cash register, we realized that the police officer had picked up the tab for all of us.

I am not mentioning his name or agency because I would like all of us to feel that he is the true representative of his profession and that all departments have reason to be proud of their officers.

I was able to catch up with him and thank him for what he had just done and for what he does every single day.

I pledge to him that I will pay it forward in the spirit of that most basic moral guideline: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
