Xtavia Bailey ideal for Manatee County school board

In response to the Bradenton Herald’s surprising endorsement of a candidate for our School Board, I have to ask: When did Mr. Edward Viltz decide he would run for the School Board?

He certainly was not at any of the debates or other functions that the other candidates worked so hard at. He has spoken at the Tiger Bay Club and attended the Pancakes and Politics in Parrish.

It does not appear that he has put much effort into his campaign, as the other candidates have. He is a relatively unknown person and all of a sudden we start seeing small signs all over the county. Then out of the blue the Bradenton Herald endorses him for District 1 School Board.

Why wait until the last minute to become a candidate? His lengthy career in a variety of diverse positions is impressive. What is not impressive is the fact that we have not heard from Mr. Viltz as we have the other candidates.

Xtavia Bailey has a very impressive track record and a passion for education. Xtavia is a true public servant and will serve our community well.

It does not take over 25 years of experience in non-education positions to help turn our School Board around.

It takes a local woman’s capabilities, one who has served as regional director and teacher for the Ameri-I-Can program. It takes a woman with Xtavia’s willingness to work toward the ultimate goal of bringing transparency, accountability and fiscal responsibility to our School Board once again. It takes a woman like Xtavia who brings her educational expertise to lift up our children in the Manatee County School System.

Before you vote on Aug. 30, please do your own homework. Xtavia Bailey is the best choice for School Board District 1.
