Voting essential to changing system
It seems people are constantly complaining about their so-called representatives either directly at meetings with these politicians or by letters to the editor. The voters say they are tired of these politicians who bend over backwards to give the developers and other special interests what they want at the expense of the people they are supposed to represent just to get those big campaign contributions.
But the problem is that at election time the complainers re-elect the same people they complain about. The only way the voters are going to change the system is to vote these special interest pawns out and put new people in.
If these new office-holders don’t work out, repeat the process till they get the message, be it a local or statewide election. Maybe a referendum on term limits for local races will solve the problems.
Remember, no matter how much money they raise, if they don’t get the votes at the ballot box, they are gone.
You have to decide if you want to keep Bradenton and Manatee County the great place it has been., or another Tampa. The choice is yours. Choose wisely while there is still time !
