GOP’s vilifying of Clinton perverse
I have been watching the Republican National Convention, and I am appalled! Is this really America?
I have always liked the conventions, to see the excitement over the selected candidates and their families, to listen to the idealistic speeches. But this convention is different. It is totally focused on the trumped-up charges and the vilification of Hillary Clinton.
Speaker after speaker mounted the podium and in their best rabble-rousing voices, told of terrible things they attributed to Hillary. Everything is her fault: unemployment, illegal immigration, unrest in the Middle East, everything. She is being repeatedly labeled a murderer and a liar. Dr. Ben Carson even implied seriously that she might be in league with “Lucifer.”
When the Clintons first hit the national scene, Bill was so popular that the GOP chose to attack Hillary in his stead. She did not want to be a sweet docile type, she wanted to use her formidable brain in public service. Bill Clinton considered her an equal partner.
There is nothing that the GOP likes less than a woman wanting power. Every possible aspect of her life has been investigated, which has proven a waste of time and money. She could not possibly be personally responsible for most of the happenings that have been blamed on her.
She has been investigated on things that others have done with impunity and no one batted an eye.
Republicans do not need to agree with Hillary, but to start rumors and lies and repeat them for over two decades, until many just assume they must be true, and when this has not managed to push her into the shadows, to launch a hate campaign as evidenced by the GOP convention is clearly beyond the pale. Shame on the GOP, shame on you, Mr. Trump.
