Grant sheriff additional funds

I usually do not ask to pay more for anything. However, it has come to either fund the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office with what Sheriff Brad Steub needs or do without protection needed.

The time has come for a decision by the Board of County Commissioners to give the sheriff what he is asking for — monies to protect the citizens of Manatee County.

Commission Chair Vanessa Baugh has called this a “critical time.” Anyone who disputes that has not kept up with what law enforcement is going through these days. We will also have a newly elected sheriff taking over in January who will need all the help he can get. Start him off on the right foot.

So, without further discussion, if I were on the commission, there is no doubt in my mind how I would vote.
