On the warm morning of June 2, I joined a number of volunteers to help remove the flags at the Sarasota National Cemetery, placed at each headstone by other volunteers for Memorial Day. The organizers and volunteers deserve a heartfelt "Thank You" for their efforts for this monumental task.
If your family has never visited this memorial, I would encourage to do so soon and take a friend along.
A caveat to my visit: I have a friend who is at SNC and I wanted to visit with him while there. Upon reporting for duty, imagine my delight when I was assigned to the section wherein he is laid to rest. I got to relive many memories each time I passed his "spot" with my arms full of flags!
