In her May 12 letter to the editor, Chrystal Lee demonstrated the major problem Americans have that is causing us to lose the liberty promised by our Constitution.

She complains that another writer had written about the transsexual bathroom issue in North Carolina. Like many Americans, Ms. Lee falls into the trap of following a false trail laid down by the disreputable in our U.S. Justice Department. We are easy prey to this kind of false trail.

I doubt that one month before the North Carolina law regarding restrooms for transgenders that anyone in this entire country lost any sleep worrying about what restroom to use.

The reason for government attention to this law is not to help transgender citizens. The unsolicited attention is more of the federal government’s tyrannical effort to destroy the middle class and small business.

Our coal industry has been destroyed; our rain water belongs to the government; the right to decide on the salary of an employee is out the employer’s hands; our right to choose to purchase or not purchase healthcare are all examples of the government’s unconstitutional intrusion into our lives and businesses.

A new surprise for people living in middle- and upper-class neighborhoods is in the works courtesy of the department of housing. HUD has decided that upper- and middle-class neighborhoods are somehow racist so pressure is now being applied to municipalities to build Section 8 housing in those neighborhoods. There is no evidence to base this decision on, but the program proceeds anyway.

The purpose of this program is actually to dilute the Republican voters in these neighborhoods so the left can gain control of the U.S. House.

Bureaucrats have hijacked our government, making these unconstitutional rules without congressional authority. We must amend the Constitution to make this stop!
