Tire tread on roads dangerous

I’m writing to warn people to watch out for large tire treads off semis.

I was going to pick up prescriptions for my husband on SR 64 toward Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, going the speed limit, which is 60 mph. Right in the middle of the road was a huge tire tread. I could not go right because of a truck and I could not go left because of a curb and the grassy median ... so, bam! I hit it head on with my 3-year-old Mustang.

I was devastated when I got to Publix to pick up my husband’s medications. I looked my car over and could not see any damage, so I drove home and told my husband. He called our insurance company and they told us to take it to a body shop in Sarasota. There was $2,000 worth of damage, all underneath.

Four days later I had my car back. I breathed a sigh of relief when I got home because I also have a Corvette convertible. It’s so low and I wonder what would have happened if I decided to take it that day. State Roads 70 and 64 and CR 675 are loaded with these large tire treads, so please watch out.
