Now blame locals, not snowbirds, for terrible driving
I am a big fan of Letters to the Editor. I love the different opinions and I try to read them all. Some people have an awful hate in them and maybe this is their way to relieve it.
The other day there was a letter blaming snowbirds for driving slow and tying things up. The snowbirds are gone.
I was on the road yesterday and saw some really bad drivers. I wonder when cars cut in and out, going from one lane to another, if they realize what problems they cause. They cut people off, and drivers have to hit their brakes, which causes the people driving behind them to do the same.
Yesterday, I was on Honore Avenue heading south. I had a black pickup truck come up behind me and stay within 15 feet of my bumper. I always try to do the speed limit, which is 35 mph, because a lot of bicycles use this road and it is pretty narrow.
This dope in the pickup was in such of a hurry, he passed me on a double line and curve. He was halfway by me when a car came from the other direction. I hit my brakes and let him in and he sped away.
In about 150 yards he had another car in front of him. He followed them so close that they eventually pulled into a left-turn lane and let him go by and then they pulled back to Honore.
This is the second time that I have been passed on a double line on this road ... and not by snowbirds.
The gentleman who doesn't like seat belts and airbags should have put some time in with a rescue squad. I did. It opens your eyes.
