De Soto National Memorial Park in Manatee County well worth visiting

While the letter to the editor from Jennifer Rubiello had good intentions, it did have one glaring error.

In it, she states that De Soto National Memorial Park is north of the Sunshine Skyway bridge (she is probably thinking of the Pinellas County Fort De Soto Park), but it is not only south of the Skyway bridge, it is on the southern bank of the Manatee River where it meets Tampa Bay.

It's a beautiful and dog-friendly park, and well worth the visit. Anyone interested in visiting any national park can find information at www.nps.gov.
