Change politics as usual by voting out current office-holers, elect new candidates

It seems by all the news I've been reading and especially the letters to the editor that people are sick and tired of politics as usual and politicians in general.

The answer to their problems can be found in the voting booth; vote them all out and put new people in their place. To keep voting for the same politicians and expecting a change in representation from the special interests to the general public at large is the real definition of insanity. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Maybe term limits for local politicians, like we have for our state representatives, is the answer.

A March 29 headline in the Bradenton Herald said it all, "Officials frustrated about traffic tie-ups."

If our local politicians would stick to the original growth plan instead of bowing down to the developers (campaign contributors) on every land use change they bring to them, maybe we wouldn't start looking like Tampa with its traffic jams and gridlock.

Voters, you have more power than the special interests who give huge sums of money to these so-called representatives by casting your vote for a much needed change to preserve what little quality of life and environment we have left in Manatee County and ultimately in the state of Florida.

What quality of life do you want to leave for your children and grandchildren? It's all up to you!
