Illustrate bicycle articles with rider safety in mind

It is unfortunate that the Bradenton Herald has joined the list of media outlets who irresponsibly feel the need to illustrate any story related to bikes with a photo of a helmet-less cyclist.

In the case of the March 25 front-page story, you went for the "trifecta" -- no helmet, earbuds and flip-flops.

It doesn't require a car-cycle crash to cause a devastating and life-changing head injury. Your paper can provide a subtle reminder to your readers by illustrating your bike stories with that in mind.
