Here I go again spouting off as I was reading the Nov. 17 paper. I was thrilled to see the article about Centerstone receiving $1.34 million for addiction and mental health programs ... until I read about the Benderson rowing park receiving $2.5 million that is tagged for -- get this -- additional sidewalks, parking lots, lighting and other landscaping.

Now, I am not a stupid person. I realize different money comes from different budgets and God forbid someone should say at the rowing championships that we should have done a better job on beautifying our rowing park.

Somehow I think our priorities are very messed up when landscaping comes in ahead of taking care of people.

Am I the only one who sees this as a much greater embarrassment that a government would choose things over people?

It is a sad day, a very sad day.
