Of course developers back former legislator Ron Reagan for Manatee County commission
I had to "laugh out loud" when I read the March 18 local headline. Of course the developers back Ron Reagan for county commission. Who better but a politician to back their plans to develop every square inch of available land in Manatee County?
Now I know there will be a rebuttal to this letter claiming that without development there won't be any jobs and the local economy will suffer. I understand and have felt the impact of that first-hand. My husband works in construction and I work in the service industry, both of us right here in Palmetto.
But at what point does all the development become a detriment to our quality of life? And shouldn't that override the size of our wallets?
Maybe we need someone on the commission who will listen to and really keep our best interests in mind, not just the kickbacks they are getting from developers. Someone who drives the same roads we do every morning and drops their kids/grandkids off at the same overcrowded schools.
Just because Reagan is "in the process of moving to Parrish" doesn't mean he understands the issues that are important to us.
Voters, wake up! Let's take back our county from the developers and career politicians and elect someone with some down-home common sense.
