Traffic signals tough to get from state government
I just finished reading the article about the Greyhawk Landing area needing a stop light at their entrance to their subdivision. I feel bad for you because I don't think anyone is going to listen to you seriously.
A few months ago, I called the mayor's office to ask if the city would consider putting a turn signal at the Walmart on Cortez Road near 59th Street. Traffic gets so backed up and you have to cross your fingers and take a chance that no one is coming straight across from Cape Vista.
People cut each other off trying to get to the front of the line so they won't have to wait five minutes for the next signal change.
Well, surprise, surprise. The mayor's office told me that it was up to the state to judge whether one was needed. I guess they were too busy to request the state check it themselves.
So, I called the state and they said they would have to do a traffic survey at the site to determine if one was needed. I did not see anyone counting cars any time I drove by.
But they can build a turnabout at 53rd Avenue and 75th Street. So, Greyhawk residents, I'm afraid you will continue to be disappointed as we are over this way. Look both ways and hold your breath!
