Many thanks to Manatee County resident who returned forgotten purchases
I am always so proud to be a resident of Manatee County, and I was recently reminded of how great our citizens are.
I was leaving the Walgreens store in Palmetto and received a phone call on my cell phone. It was a dear friend of mine letting me know that she was hospitalized at Blake Medical Center.
I was so upset at the news that as I unlocked the car and spoke with her for a few minutes I began driving off, telling her that I prefer not to speak on the cell phone while driving as I find it distracting. I proceeded to Walmart, and about a half hour later while loading my groceries in the car realized that the items I purchased at Walgreens were not in the car!
I felt like a fool and hurried back to Walgreens to ask if someone had turned in my cart with my purchases inside. The cashier had a long line, but immediately addressed my concern.
An honest, decent person had realized my mistake and returned my purchases to the store. They were right there behind the cash register.
THANK YOU to the good soul who returned those items, as I could not have afforded to repurchase them.
I know I am blessed to live in such a community, and even though I may never know who returned my items, I will forever be grateful for their kindness and honesty. Blessings!
