Thanks to our state senator, Bill Galvano, who didn't embarrass the region by actually following the demands of 75 percent of uninformed Florida voters.

Those folks foolishly passed the 2014 state constitutional amendment, which required the legislature to fully fund the Florida Forever land-buying program.

Following the no-new-taxes wording of the amendment, Republican Sen. Thad Altman proposed that $222 million be allocated for Florida Forever.

But Sen. Galvano is a lawyer, and he knows that there is much wiggle room when it comes to his oath of office ... to uphold the state Constitution and its laws.

So our senator, according to the Herald, bravely ruled the proposal "out of order." No one will be surprised if the senator and the Legislature repeat their performance last year and provide $17 million instead of the estimated $300 million required by the state constitution.

Galvano clearly deserves his title, Senate majority leader, when it comes to representing a majority of the people of Florida.
