Cheers to end of State College of Florida tenure; colleges hostage to liberals
Hurrah! I broke out the champagne right after reading a Feb. 7 letter regarding the State College of Florida's termination of future contracts for faculty.
Obviously seeking elite support, the writer stated many knowledgeable and experienced members of the community were troubled. Not to worry, though; unionization will provide a suitable substitute security blanket.
The writer suggests that this action shows disdain for the First Amendment. Was he speaking about liberal instructors who demand that student papers conform to their philosophy? Perhaps he means that enlightened faculty and administrators should continue support of fascist know-nothing students that keep guest speakers off campus who do not parrot their closed-mind line of thought.
If the First Amendment means anything in college, administrators should make it clear that those students who disrupt and prevent guest speakers from being heard will be expelled. If all colleges had this policy one would see this nonsense disappear immediately.
Imagine the wonderful benefit of rediscovering an atmosphere of open and free exchange of ideas. This is what academic freedom is supposed to mean; not political correctness, speech codes, thought police or speech police.
Terms like xenophobe, homophobe, bigot, sexist, etc. are Alinsky tactics used by closed minds to silence and intimidate those who have a legitimate and worthy point of view that does not conform to their world view.
The writer is aghast that the college board might require instructor's to teach both sides of intelligent design and global warming. There are actually two sides to this "politicized" issue, but documented legitimate, scientific findings are squelched along with threats and intimidation of those scientists who do not conform.
Intelligent design is especially verboten. Pundit's claim earth's bounty is an accident. That's a good cover for not having a clue as to how life actually began.
