Green Bridge closure for regatta in season a mistake

I can't imagine why, in the middle of season, the powers that be would see fit to close one of the main arteries between Palmetto and Bradenton!

Traffic trying to use I-75 from Ellenton to Bradenton was backed up so far, chances of getting on I-75 were slim to none. Glad my family didn't have a medical emergency; we would have had to go to St. Pete.

I think this needs to be thought through a little more. I have no interest in boat racing, but I do have interest in being able to get where I need to be!
