Manatee County school board in tough spot on impact fees, sales tax

0108_BRLO_impact
Charlie Kennedy, Manatee County School Board, shakes hands with commissioners Robin DiSabatino and Carol Whitmore, after a vote by the commission to support a recommendation by the school board to reinstate impact fees to pay for schools.GRANT JEFFERIES/Bradenton Herald gjefferies@bradenton.com

Stuart Smith, in his Jan. 16 letter on the school district impact fee decision and possible sales tax extension, hit the nail on the head! Our local politicians and developers are just as self-serving as our national politicians.

If you vote "yes" on the sales tax, developers skip out on half their impact fees. If you vote "no" the district loses revenue. The school board created this boiling pot; now let them stew in it.
