A most deserving honor for Robert Pelot as Manatee County Citizen of the Year

I am delightfully surprised and proud to have read that Robert Pelot was named Manatee County's Citizen of the Year. I truly cannot think of anyone more deserving of the honor.

In fact, honor is a word that I have associated with Mr. Pelot for some time now, and even described him to a member of my family in recent weeks as someone with an "honorable reputation!"

I'm so proud to know him and glad to know that so many members of our community also hold him in such high regard.

Among the characteristics that I find so admirable about Mr. Pelot is his unwavering and unashamed profession of his Christianity, his loyalty to his family, the community and his customers frequenting his pharmacy. He is kind, humorous and humble. He is not afraid to support causes that he feels strongly about, such as his recent endeavor to save Glazier Gates Park.

Our community, city and county are truly blessed by his example. I wish we could put him through a Xerox machine and make hundreds more just like him -- what a wonderful world we would live in!
