Robert Pelot most deserving of Manatee County Citizen of Year award

I woke up this morning and went out to get the newspaper, fixed my coffee and set down to read the paper. On the front page was the story of one Mr. Robert Pelot and him being awarded the prestigious award of Citizen of the Year for Manatee County. I would just like to add a few words on his behalf.

My wife and I moved to Bradenton in 1995. It wasn't long before we became acquainted with our next-door neighbors, and it wasn't long after that we were told about Pelot's Pharmacy. The referral was so strong that our very first prescriptions were taken to Pelot's Pharmacy and our relationship began.

Believe it or not, there were two or three occasions since where our prescriptions were delivered to our home by Mr. Robert Pelot himself! This was unheard of. (Can you imagine CVS or Walgreens making a home delivery?)

This service has never been forgotten and when my prescription insurance suggested buying through CVS/Walgreens, I declined. I even wrote them a letter and explained to them why.

One other occasion sticks out in my mind. Two years ago I had major surgery and was at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Three or four days into recovery who should come visiting but Mr. Robert Pelot. I couldn't help but get choked up. We had become very good friends, as good as is possible for a Gator and a Bulldog to get.

I'm sure that I am just one of many persons Mr. Pelot has befriended over the years. He is a gracious man who does a great service for our community and I just wanted to add my congratulations to well deserved Mr. Robert Pelot.
