Gun-control arguments fail the truth test
My comments are in response to the multitude of liberal letters that keep using inaccurate information in their commentaries on gun control in an attempt to bolster their political agenda.
Any editorial argument that calls for a ban on assault rifles fails on merit. Assault rifles are already not available for sale to the general public. An assault rifle is a fully-automatic weapon that is used by law enforcement and the military.
An ArmaLite Rifle (AR) is a single-shot rifle; it is not an assault rifle. Calling an AR an assault rifle is akin to saying a Prius is a Lamborghini. You make yourself look ridiculous using this comparison.
Any argument that calls for background checks on the sale of guns fails on merit. Background checks are already required and performed at gun shows and gun stores. Background checks on private sales of a weapon are not performed.
Much in the same way that background checks on private sales of automobiles are not performed. How would anyone know that they are selling their car to a person with an alcohol problem or a felon?
Any argument that calls me a "gun nut" or "anti-gun control person" fails on merit. I'm a pro-Second Amendment patriot and law-abiding gun enthusiast. I'm also a proud member of the National Rifle Association, which promotes gun safety and responsible gun ownership.
My weapons are for the protection of myself, my family, and the Constitution of the United States of America. Something all Americans should believe in!
