Assault weapons, easy to assemble, are not problem
Reason: Response to Stan Anderson's Dec. 27 letter on assault weapons.
I understand why some people don't like guns; they do not understand the Second Amendment and what it means. I can turn any gun into an assault weapon because I know how to use a gun and make it work efficiently, and deadly, if necessary. It does not have to be an AR15; it can be a 22-caliber pistol, single-shot shotgun, 22-bolt action rifle or any gun.
The government just does not like the looks of an AR15 or Ruger Mini-14. You still have to pull the trigger each time it shoots, which makes it less effective than a fully automatic rifle.
The Second Amendment will never go away, and the right to bear arms is alive and well. Registering guns, think about that and tell me what good does that do.
If I run into another car and speed away, someone can write down my license plate number and find me. Now, if I shoot someone with my pistol and run away did someone see the registration number or serial number on my pistol? No.
Nothing can be matched to the pistol unless the law has the pistol to match the spent casings from the pistol.
We want to own guns to protect ourselves against criminals, gangs and, God forbid, a rogue and oppressive government. Sensible laws are already on the books.
But see how are they working out for places like Chicago, Washington, D.C., Miami, Houston, Los Angeles and every other city with tough gun control laws. Every city and state that gives the law-abiding citizen the right to carry a gun has the least crime.
We will never give-up our AR15's, Mini-14's, semi-automatic pistols and shotguns. We are the people of the United States and we will never let any government take away our guns.
