No other civilized country would put up with the mass shootings that have become too commonplace in this wonderful country of ours. We should be ashamed and I am.

We can blame the NRA and the misguided souls who are convinced everyone should be armed at all times.

The rest of us who are brokenhearted over the needless deaths of children and innocent adults outnumber them, surely. Let's get together and stop this.

Nobody has suggested "taking away all our guns," as most of them insist. We need to enforce the gun laws and make it mandatory for background checks on all gun sales. Stop gun shows where the law is not followed.

Don't ignore laws because they are not perfect. Stop sales of assault rifles to all except law enforcement and military. The only game hunter or household protector who needs a rapid fire weapon is someone who can't hit the target the first time.

The notion that arming everyone, whether it be open or concealed, would stop or prevent these mass shootings is ridiculous. If you check the multitude of missed targets at any shooting range where people go to perfect their accuracy, you can see why amateurs have no business trying to protect themselves and others in a crowded area. Mayhem. Stray bullets everywhere.

Let's stop this madness. Contact your representative, your legislator.

By golly, enough is enough!
