Dave Miner a good choice to chair school board coalition
Please accept my thank you to the citizens of Manatee County for having Dave "Watchdog" Miner on their school board and available to serve as chairman of the Central Florida Public School Board Coalition, comprising 13 school districts and representing more than 1 million terrific students. All 13 school boards unanimously and enthusiastically elected Dave as our chair earlier this month.
The coalition and its students are fortunate and honored to have the strong voice of this U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran fighting for policies that free teachers to teach and students to learn. Dave believes in accountability in all aspects of public education, but insists that it should always be fair and constructive.
His training and experience as an attorney and service on the Manatee County School Board have been invaluable in helping the coalition advocate specific statutory reforms to refocus resources on teaching our students and providing fair compensation for our employees.
Dave's passion and commitment are refreshingly genuine. Having attended meetings with Dave consistently since 2012, he is always thoroughly prepared and realizes that problem-solving at times requires creative outside-the-box solutions that too few in leadership positions are capable of.
Thank you for sharing Dave with the rest of us; he sets a leadership example others would be well served to emulate.
Jay Wheeler, Osceola County School Board Kissimmee
