To Manatee County commissioners and concerned citizens:

It seems like this voluntary (?) property association in Heather Hills Estates subdivision, where only 144 of 353 mobile homes belong to their private club, are trying to extend their partying for the next few months (most are temporary residents).

Regardless of the facts that these are county streets, owned and maintained by taxpayer money and traveled mainly by senior citizens, many drive carts and cars day and night with no lights whatsoever; this seems like an accident looking for a place to happen.

Will the county take responsibility or pass the buck to keep the courts busy?

Two weeks ago while driving my car south on Fourth Street, a lady going east from Fifth Street crossed directly in front of me looking straight ahead, not even slowing down! I almost broadsided her.

In 22 years here, I have yet to see these carts obey traffic signals. Each year we are getting more carts. When will it stop?

When these people have visitors, they let the little kids drive, many times alone.

If you are going to allow this to happen, then license these vehicles and make them honor our traffic rules. Even now we have sheriff's cars that see this happen and do nothing.

Heather Hills seems above any federal, state or local laws. Another example of give an inch, take a mile and power play to the minority. This is not a trailer park.
