Responsible, compassionate gun owners key to new laws
This is my final letter regarding responsible gun control.
I read with compassion the letter printed by William West in rebuttal to my letter. He compared gun control laws to drunk driving laws.
Yes, there will always be people who break the laws, but we should never give up and become pessimistic. Drunk driving laws have saved lives and taken drunk drivers off the road.
Just because people break laws is not a very good reason not to have laws. We are a nation of laws.
Taking guns out of some people's hands would also save lives. Not every life, but even one life saved is precious.
I still hold firm in my belief that the word compromise is not a dirty word, but an adult word. There is room at the table for everyone.
I also hold firm in my belief that there are responsible gun owners who can and will do the right thing.
The NRA is not the same organization it started out to be and has been radicalized by people like Wayne LaPierre. Responsible and compassionate gun owners can organize and find responsible solutions.
