Letters to the Editor

Religions serve to promote decent human behavior

I read the Nov. 23 letter to the editor by an agnostic who wants to abolish religious beliefs. His place is in Washington with the man who can't run our country and who made a statement two years ago that our United States is not a Christian nation. I heard the statement he made on the television. Protestant, Catholics, Jewish people, I am sure will chastise them both.

People today don't follow the Golden Rule or obey laws anymore. They have no respect for our law enforcement officers, who are protecting us against people like them.

The Bible was written to show trials and tribulations which befall people. It is a guideline to control human behavior. Our country is decaying because of the neglect of the things mentioned above.

I am just past 80 in age and I thank the Lord every day that I was born when people were decent. They had respect for each other, used words like "pardon me," "excuse me," "yes sir," "yes ma'am," and "thank you!"

Let us hope things turn around back to decency.
