Sanders following Founders as pro-Social Democracy
Two recent letters responding to a Nov. 5 letter are less than accurate. East Berlin was ruled by a brutal Communist dictator with most property owned by collective-run government operations.
Democratic Socialist governments run major business operations but the government is democratically elected. Social Democratic government is a form of capitalism with most business privately owned with some social programs provided by the government such as the post office, roads and public education, with free elections.
Fascism is government, usually elected, but controlled by very wealthy, powerful big business interests.
Our Founding Fathers were interested in developing a Social Democracy as clearly stated in the following quotation by George Washington.
"Political parties are likely in the course of time, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."
Great presidents of both parties, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Eisenhower and Johnson, were all believers in Social Democracy. They fought the "trusts" and developed the social and financial programs that kept the "Great Recession" from being another "Great Depression."
Bernie Sanders believes we should rebuild the social programs great men have developed, making us the greatest world economy. Workers create income for the top 1 percent. Without worker's production the 1 percent would have no wealth. Without our education system they would have no trained workers. They need our infrastructure, our Postal Service, our defense system and much more provided by government to remain in business.
Our Founding Fathers knew this, many of our former leaders knew this and Bernie knows this. I suggest you read a little history and then vote to preserve our Social Democracy. Vote for Bernie.
