I would like to send along my recent interaction with a uniformed officer of the Bradenton Police Department.

Waking up about 1:15 a.m. in the morning as a result of hearing something, I looked out my kitchen window and noticed the interior light was on in my car. Upon checking the car, I saw my glove compartment door was open as well as the center console latch.

While checking the exterior of my home and my neighbor's home and vehicle (neighbors were not home at the time), I saw that his vehicle had also been broken into.

Being fairly certain the person(s) involved left when they saw my kitchen light come on (if not sooner). I called the BPD to report what just happened and within minutes a BPD cruiser arrived and I met with Officer C. Waiters.

I can't even begin to say how professional officer Waiters was throughout the time he and myself were together while he checked both exterior residences and vehicles.

Another police vehicle arrived and Officer Waiters informed the second officer of the circumstances and with that, the second patrol car began a check of the immediate area for any other victims and hopefully find the suspects themselves (no luck).

I am sure this was just one of numerous "routine" radio calls police officers receive on a daily basis; even so, Officer Waiters had me completely at ease within moments after his arrival.

While reviewing this incident in my mind recently, I decided to send along this letter to the Herald to, if nothing else, let others know we can all be proud of the Bradenton Police Department. They have a very tough job, and my opinion being they do it very well. Thank you, BPD; thank you, Officer Waiters.
