If the assertion that ISIS is responsible for the recent bombing of a Russian passenger jet over the Sinai peninsula is true, an unusual opportunity might exist. The saying that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" could bring the United States and Russia together in a unified fight against ISIS.

Hopefully, the two administrations will recognize this opportunity and cast aside differences and politics in an effort to defeat this common enemy. This effort may involve "boots on the ground," another issue that might be easier to get behind us if another equally powerful nation joins us in the fight.
