Manatee County funding priorities create taxpayer confusion

Some news stories are confusing.

Manatee County must raise the price of Handy Bus rides by 50 percent from $2 to $3 per ride. At the same time, we offer free trolley rides on Anna Maria Island to tourists and locals.

Also, Manatee County can pay for soccer field lights at Lakewood Ranch, but there is no money in any budget for the Rubonia Community Center. To keep it open, programs must be outsourced.

Parents of swimmers want lighting and heating for John Marble pool. Palmetto would like a pool.
