Manatee County financial advisory board must be represent all

I applaud Manatee County Administrator Ed Hunzeker's plan to establish a Citizens Financial Structure Advisory Board to look into new revenue streams for the county.

Artis Wick, chairwoman of the Library Board of Trustees, gave an example of our problems in her recent column, noting a lack of money may lead to further reductions in Manatee County's already-limited library hours.

However, I suggest Mr. Hunzeker not limit membership in this board to "various chambers of commerce and business organizations." There are others in this community who use county services (and vote), including retirees, and if their views are not heard then the results may not be as widely supported.

BradentonEditor's note: Under Hunzeker's adopted plan, each county commissioner can appoint one resident from their district to sit on this advisory board.
