Janiya Thomas' tragic abuse case reflects low value for human beings

Thank you, Jane Gattuso, for submitting your letter in reference to the death of Janiya Thomas.

I wondered why we had no comments regarding this story before your letter. Maybe we want to ignore that this doesn't happen in our community by acknowledging that the mother is capable of such abuse and neglect.

One can only wonder what happened in this mother's life for her to be responsible for this. Abuse is tolerated in families from generation to generation.

The value of human beings, especially children, is absent. It's likely others knew and did nothing!
