About time Manatee County reinstated impact fees in support of new roads, schools and more

About time county reset impact fees

It's about time.

In the Oct. 14 Herald I read the article "Manatee ready to reinstate impact fees." It's about time!

When I moved here in 1991 I had to pay the impact fee. Since they stopped that fee the building of homes has increased tremendously.

The article stated that the impact fees that are being considered are "particularly in the eastern portion of the county." There is a tremendous amount of building proposed for the western portion of the county, too, so let's not forget that, particularly around IMG and Cortez Road and 75th Street West. There will be a need for roads, schools, etc. in that part of the county also.

It seems to me that the builders are becoming rich while the county is going to be poor. Let's get a little balance here!
