Problematic intersections in Manatee have obvious solutions

I read recently that the intersection at Haben Boulevard and 10th Street East (U.S. 301) has a high volume of accidents, and they are looking into a means of easing the problem. I would suggest that a "no turn on red" sign be installed there, and where U.S. 41 empties onto 10 Street East at the Walmart store.

If the police or deputies would observe the numbers of people who are failing to stop or yield at these locations, and ticket half of the offenders, there would be no need to raise taxes in any of the local districts. Also, I read that many thousands of dollars will be spent to realign the intersection of 14th Avenue and 17th Street West in Palmetto. As a 30-plus year resident of Palmetto, I have never seen an accident at that crossing, but have noticed that Fifth and Sixth streets west, from 10th to 14th avenues west, are safely passable only in a four-wheel drive vehicle. I sincerely hope that the powers that be could realign their thinking to the pressing problems, not the popular ones.

Thank you.
