Manatee commissioners ignore real issue in COVID-19 mask debate | Letter to the editor

Tuesday we attended the Manatee County commissioners’ meeting about compulsory face masks and five minutes into it, we knew they had already made up their minds.

The commissioners already had their lawyer draw up plans that would protect them in case the public decides to sue. They had many people in the medical field come to the podium to speak in favor of face masks. So many in fact, we wondered if they were asked by commissioners to speak in favor of face masks. Before people were allowed to present their comments, one commissioner declared that she will vote yes for the face masks.

This meeting was not about the safety of face masks, this meeting was supposed to be whether American citizens have to right to wear OR NOT WEAR a face mask. They are so blinded by their desire for power and control, they never saw that Americans are not against face masks but are against the government forcing us to wear one.

Shame on them and their pre-arranged voting.
