When it comes to Trump and COVID-19, DeSantis is Florida’s ‘default yes’ governor | Letter to the editor

I’m shaking my head in disbelief after reading the article about Gov. Ron DeSantis saying our state is a “default yes” to holding the Republican convention this summer. DeSantis is a “default yes” to anything that comes from the White House.

This is going too far. The article says he spoke with Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade still has more COVID-19 cases than any other area of Florida! Sure, governor, let’s invite 19,000 people from around the country to be in the same place together, when many Americans are staying at home this summer due to COVID-19.

Are you going to claim you have testing for all 19,000 of them? How about Orlando? Or Jacksonville? The governor says the CDC is at the disposal of the president and they can make the necessary “recommendations” for a safe convention. You mean like wearing a mask? Not having large gatherings? Easing restrictions, after two weeks of declines in the numbers? Let’s make believe COVID-19 is all gone!

A “default yes” to that also?
