COVID-19 restrictions are ‘a violation of our right to be free’ | Letter to the editor

The steady drumbeat of almost nothing but bad news from the Herald has made it plain that you think our region, state and country should be kept under tight government orders to shelter in place, and not return to work.

I think you are mistaken, and that these orders are irrational and a violation of our right to be free. We should let people decide for themselves what is safe behavior, and stay home if they think it’s wise to stay home.

People should be allowed to be in public under enforced but reasonable guidelines on distancing and masks, so they can work and earn a living again, instead of relying on government to keep them afloat.

A government that supports you will run, and ruin, your life.

The course you are advocating will turn our land into a dictatorship.
