Are we taking COVID-19 seriously enough? | Letter to the editor

We are living in confusing times, and the current situation we are all in doesn’t make it easier.

Why does it seem as if only the mom and pop stores are required to be closed? Practically every big store is open with sometimes long lines in front and inside. Why are car dealerships (non-repair) essential or the RV dealership (non repair). A golf course is essential? A shooting range or gun store? As long as you pretend to provide loans to people (pawn shop, jewelry stores) you can stay open? A church can be open as long as they don’t have more than 50 people attending?

I still think most of us don’t see the situation as critical and hope we will follow the example of California, New York and Washington state. To do this we will need leaders with a spine, of which we don’t seem to have enough. It boils down now to our local leaders, hopefully they have more of a incentive to do the right thing.
