Trump has hurt many Americans. In pandemic, he is now killing them | Letter to the editor

The current president of the United States has hurt many Americans in his three years in office. From demeaning political opponents and handicapped individuals all the way to threatening the health of millions with his attempts to end the Affordable Care Act and dismantle the EPA. Now he has gone too far.

By refusing to acknowledge the danger of the coronavirus, by delaying strategies that could have deterred the virus’ spread, by misleading the public about treatments and medications, by leaving critical decisions up to state and city governments, by refusing to nationalize the production of respirators and personal protective gear and by outright lying to put himself in a favorable light, this dangerous megalomaniac is now killing people!

The responsibility for this national disaster rests in large measure with Republicans in the U.S. Senate. They had a chance to end the ongoing debacle that is the Trump presidency by convicting him in the recent impeachment trial. Now, with Trump still in office and making more inane claims and improper decisions, the disaster will be the death of many innocent Americans. Maybe 200,000 Americans if recent predictions by high-level health officials are correct!
