Manatee County needs a safe-at-home order to fight COVID-19 pandemic | Letter to the editor
The purpose of this letter is to request the safe-at-home order be put in place for Manatee County.
Pinellas and Hillsborough have an order in place. We have been overrun with tourists, which when times are different, is a good thing for our county’s economy. As has been shown with New Orleans, it took about a month for all the cases to develop.
I realize, at this time, Manatee County doesn’t report that many cases. I believe that reason is twofold. One, testing is lacking and two, the cases haven’t yet reared their ugly head.
Many people are still being required to come into the workplace when they are able to work from home. If the county or state issues a mandated safe-at-home order this will desist, protecting those in the workplace and others they come in contact with.
Please help keep Manatee County safe. God bless our health care workers. Please do not overwhelm them because of tourism and the economy. It will come back. Look what has happened since the ‘70s in this community.
We will rebuild our economy. We can’t rebuild or replace our people.
