Trump, DeSantis leading us to a coronavirus disaster | Letter to the editor

Evidently the governor wants to ensure his and President Donald Trump’s continued Republican reign. This is evidenced by the fact that the Villages (that senior Republican stronghold) is now a major testing site for Covid-19.

The rest of the state can just get by as best they can. Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be any leader, be they president or governor, who is willing to make a decision and do what needs to be done to stem the tide of this pandemic.

Trump lets the states decide what to do, the governor lets the cities decide. This is a recipe for disaster. The president has all the experts in the world at his disposal but refuses to make the tough decisions needed to break the chain of new cases. Instead, keep passing the buck to states or cities to make the call. Yeah, that will work.

It’s been said many times in all media outlets and social media, the more we do now, the shorter this outbreak lasts. Somebody step up and take the hit for the rest of the country and LEAD. It’s not going to be easy, it’s not going to be quick but it’s what needs to happen to keep people from dying, and at the end of the day that is the bottom line.

We can do this together but we need a leader who can bring the country together. We’ve done it before and we can do it again.
