Forget the big companies. Any COVID-19 bailout must first help the American people | Letter to the editor
It is time for all Americans to contact their representatives and tell them that in any stimulus package now and in the future being proposed to confront the coronavirus crisis, to focus on the American citizen who lives paycheck to paycheck, our small businesses and healthcare system, not corporations who received monumental tax relief in 2017 and then went out and bought their own stock to prop it up for investors.
This includes an airline bailout that has been discussed. This is not a partisan issue, but a catastrophe for those who scrimp just to put food on the table and pay for child care. It’s time for politicians to respond to the dire needs of individual families, not corporations, especially in this crisis.
Immediate humanitarian assistance is our nation’s elected officials’ most urgent and moral duty.
